Our service starts with a phone call or email.  From there we can taylor make a gate that suits your property and purpose.  We can even install it for you if that makes life easier! And rest assured if you ever need a matching gate or have an oopsie with your existing gate we are only a phone call away to help you sort it out.

Manufacturing in Palmerston North enables us to send our gates all over the North Island. We have trusted transport partners that will ensure your gate gets to you no matter where you are.   If you are looking for an install in Taupo, Taranaki, Hawkes Bay or Wellington you are in luck as can easily arrange an install when we deliver your gates.  

Our Approach

How it started

Established by a father and son in 2018, Colman Gates is based in Palmerston North manufacturing gates from their purpose built workshop.  Every gate is handmade to customer specification using locally sourced timber and delivery is available throughout the North Island.

Working full time during the day and then working long into the night Craig and Chris knew they were passionate about working with wood. As time passed and customers kept coming back for their work they decided to keep building and creating new designs with the goal of making it a full time business.

A few years on from that first gate, Craig now has a dedicated workshop on a block of land in Manawatu where he is starting to teach the next generation how to build with wood.

I really enjoy working with raw timber, the smell and seeing the angles aligning.  Being trained as a graphic designer I enjoy the challenge of finding the right style of gate and making this to work on the clients site.  Having happy customers refer friends and family is a real compliment!
